Welcome to the Washington Paint Horse Club's club house on the web...

July 14, 2010

As many of you know and for those of you that don't know.  One of our own, Jeanette Dubravac's husband Joseph had a serious accident back in April.  He was cleaning one of his hand guns and it went off and shot him in the leg.  He was in the hospital for ten days and had a few surgeries and almost died.  He has been in and out of the hospital a few times since then.  He will be unable to work for some time yet.  We (the Washington State Paint Horse Club) are taking donations form those of you that would like to help out Jeanette and her family.  She is a member of our club and has been involved with horses and showing paint horses for many, many years.  If anyone would like to donate we will be taking donations by mail or through pay pal (pay pal account: homefarm@hotmail.com).  All donations will go directly to the Dubravac Family.  If you would like your name attached to the card so they know who you are please say so.  Even if you can't help out monetarily, please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

If you send a check, please make it out to WSPHC.  If you have any questions, please give me a call.

WOW, what an amazing club we have! The 2010 WSPHC Star Spangled Classic was great. Our members really stepped up to the plate to put on a great show. Thank you to our wonderful sponsors, members, judges, show staff, exhibitors and trainers. The scooters were again a hit and we had several very close races for them...

The WSPHC board got together at the show and voted to hold an online auction to raise money for the Dubravac family. John Dubravac was shot last week and we all would like help to find items for our auction. We will be collecting items for one month and then will open bidding for another 30 days. All items will be posted on our website. We already have several items:

1 18" x 24" colored pastel sketch of your choice by Kirsten Hammer Equine Artist

1 Breeding for 2010 or 2011 to APHA World Champion Sire: Justa Pleasure (from Ken & Shelley Bridges)

Massage Basket (from Joanie Sorita)

A page will be available on this site shortly with the list of items and descriptions.

January 21, 2010

Wow, I can't believe the month of January is almost over. I hope everyone is enjoying their new year and are successful so far in their Resolutions. Foaling season is upon us and I would really like to get pics of our club members' foals to put on here. We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of Dot Your Eye's foal within the next thirty days.

NWCC News: Our vote came back with 7 clubs voteing to count 100% of the judges and 4 clubs wanting to continue with the 50% +1.  Therefore with this being stated 100% of our judges will count toward your NWCC points this year. There are 45 judges at this point.

STAR SPANGLE CLASSIC: May 1-2, 2010. This above news being said, it is very important that we get people to our show. Again, we really need to try and get sponsorships for the show. If every family could at least collect $50 we would be in great shape! Thanks again to Teresa Albrici, Michelle Hughes, Howard Yeager, and Jeri Stone for already donating to sponsor our show. The job list for the show is available:

REMINDERS about HIGH POINT (WSPHC & NWCC):

  • Make sure your WSPHC membership is up to date (contact Jeri Stone)
  • Fill out your WSPHC high point form and mail or email it to Janne Hammer (WSPHC Points Keeper)
  • WSPHC secretary will mail NWCC declaration form to you (fill out and return with papers to NWCC Points Keeper "to be announced")
  • Make sure you work one job at the Star Spangled Classic
  • Must attend two (2) WSPHC meetings February to November of 2010

Banquet: I hear from my family that the banquet was a great success. The centerpiece baskets and silent auction were great. It was also a treat to have Howard Yeager, the WSPHC's first president, at the party. Everyone worked really hard in 2009 and deserved a break. Congratulations to the Year End High Point Award winners! Also congratulations to Pat Gorman for being awarded the Member of the Year and Tyler Bridges for the Youth of the Year awards.

Our club has alot of goals this year and it would be great to see how much we can do to achieve them. One of the new plans is a "Spring Cleaning" this is where club members can clean out their closets and WSPHC will see that your gently used clothes and purses will go to a worthy cause. Look for the March meeting to bring these to.

FEBRUARY 13, 2010: Mark your calendars for the WSJPHC's annual Valentine's Day clinic. Location to be announced shortly.

FIRST MEETING OF THE YEAR: February 20, 2010 Dirty Dave's Pizza

Thank you to those members that helped keep the club in such fabulous working order! This club really does rock.

Tickets will be available for members to sell at the January Banquet.

The 2010 WSPHC Star Spangled Classic Job List is available please contact kirsten@leaningh.net to sign up for a position. Remember if you are an WSPHC member going for year end high point awards, you must work at the show!!!

We really need every club member to step up and help collect at least $50 a family for sponsorship of the 2010 Star Spangled Classic. Our show is very special as we give out great awards and treat our exhibitors very well. With effort from everyone, we can ensure that our club's show is a success and doesn't collapse like many clubs' shows are.

As a special incentive, WSPHC will be drawing two "$125 off you show bill" prizes. For every $50 collected and donated by a WSPHC member, you will receive a ticket to go in the drawing. Thank you to the following members for their 2010 sponsorship: Teresa Albrici & Halftime Bar and Grill of Vancouver, WA, (High Point Junior Horse), Michelle Hughes of Hughes Farms in Mt. Vernon, WA, (High Point Youth 14-18), & Jeri Stone (our wonderful club secretary)

Also, we want to get the word out to every paint horse owner WSPHC members know. We know there are alot of APHA owners that show PAC and pinto. We need to bring them to join our club. Membership makes a club and we want to spread our generousity to others. Also, our club's show is very affordable and comparable to the pinto shows. Let's bring them to our show.
